Pancham (Pin)took the trophy home

There’s no two ways about the fact that while the songs of Sanam Teri Kasam were catchy, Burman – who was oveRlookeD as far as the Filmfare Awards in the 1970s were concerned – didn’t deserve the Best Music Director trophy for it in 1983.

That is a controversial statement, because some of his finest soundtracks were mere nominees.

Jaana O Meri Jaana was the shorter of the two tracks in the film that he rendered – it was five minutes and 42 seconds long.

He was joined behind the microphone by Annette Pinto.

Gulshan Bawra penned it.
