It was (Khayy)among Mangeshkar’s best

Unfortunately, this is a post on the last Khayyam composition on this blog.

Nonetheless, it is my tribute to the music director who died recently.

Aye Dil-E-Nadaan was the only song from Razia Sultan (1983) on this blog.

It was penned by Jan Nisar Akhtar, who, incidentally, died in August too*.

Lata Mangeshkar rendered the track, which could be translated to, “O naïve heart, what’s your desire**?”

[*Note (1): He was born on February 18, 1914, and died at the age of 62 on August 19, 1976.]

[**Note (2): Both Arzoo and Justajoo mean desire.]
