Rafi’s hit inspired Himesh’s chartbuster

If the five songs from Karz (1980) were arranged in the alphabetical order, Dard-E-Dil would be the first.

It was seven minutes and five seconds long.

Mohammed Rafi rendered the track.

It was penned by Anand Bakshi, and was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

The track earned Bakshi and Rafi nominations in the Best Lyricist category and Best Male Playback Singer categories, respectively, at the Filmfare Awards in 1981.

One of its lines went, “Aashiq Banaya Aapne”. It inspired the title of the 2005 film, whose title track wasn’t just composed, but also rendered by Himesh Reshammiya.
