The soundtrack of Laawaris
featured a couple of versions of Mere Angne Mein.
While the female version earned Alka Yagnik a nomination in the Best Female Playback Singer category at the Filmfare Awards in 1982, the male version – rendered by Amitabh Bachchan, the film’s lead – went on to become more popular (more so because he was in drag).
The song, which was penned by Anjaan, was something one would ask a trespasser. It could literally be translated to, “What work do you have in my courtyard?”
Kalyanji Virji Shah and Anandji Virji Shah composed it.
