Over the years, Gulzar has – rather successfully – made the transition from a poet with songs under his belt that a person of Rakhee’s (the actress and his ex-wife) age can listen to to a lyricist penning tracks a child his grandson’s age shouldn’t be dancing to.

But even in the Golden Era, he did write what could be termed chalu numbers, albeit not regularly.

Mausam Mausam Lovely Mausam, from Thodisi Bewafaii, was a case in point.
