Nazia took (Hass)an award home

If the five songs from Qurbani (1980) on this blog were arranged in the alphabetical order, Aap Jaisa Koi would be the first.

Not only was it the most popular song in the film, but it was also the shortest – it was four minutes and half-a-dozen seconds long.

It was rendered by Pakistani singer Nazia Hassan, who bagged a Filmfare Award in the Best Female Playback Singer category in 1981. Incidentally, yesterday (August 13) was her 19th death anniversary. She died at the age of 35 in 2000.

Indeevar penned the track, which Biddu composed.
