The track earned Gulzar his maiden Filmfare Award in the Best Lyricist category in 1978.
His involvement in the film wasn’t restricted to penning the lyrics of a couple of its songs, but he wrote its screenplay, and was the film’s narrator as well.
The track was composed by Jaidev.
