The two standalone
female solos on the soundtrack of Sharmeelee were as dissimilar to each
other as is chalk is to cheese.
This blog contains a post on just one of them* – Megha Chhaye Aadhi Raat, which Lata Mangeshkar rendered.
Gopaldas Saxena ‘Neeraj’ penned the S D Burman composition.
(*Note: The other was Reshmi Ujala Hai Makhmali Andhera, which was sung by Asha Bhosle. I had heard it a few times on the radio, but I didn’t know it was from Sharmeelee till I looked up the film’s soundtrack online. It isn’t on the blog.)
