Kishore’s ‘Paisa’ trilogy comprised it

The first song in Kishore Kumar’s ‘Paisa’ trilogy was Naach Meri Bulbul, from Roti.

Bulbul cannot be translated, but, in this context, it means beloved. The track, which could, therefore, be translated to, “Dance my beloved, so we can earn money”, was penned by Anand Bakshi, was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

The film didn’t have a title track, but a verse of this track – “Apni tamanna hai kitni chhoti, do haath kapda do waqt roti” (which could be translated to, “Our desires are very basic – clothes with two sleeves and two square meals”) – contained its title.
