Lata’s lone solo was Ma(ngeshka)rvellous

If the three tracks from Tere Mere Sapne on this blog were arranged in the alphabetical order, Lata Mangeshkar’s lone solo* – Jaise Radha Ne Mala Japi – would be sandwiched between her duets with Kishore Kumar.

The song - which could be translated to, “I have worn a scarf with your name on it, just as Radha chanted Lord Krishna’s name using prayer beads” – was penned by Gopaldas Saxena ‘Neeraj’ and composed by S D Burman.

(*Note: Of course, it wasn’t her only solo in the film – she also rendered Mera Antar Ek Mandir Hai Tera.)
