It was (Naz)an amA(zi)zing qawwali

This blog contains a post on just one track from 5 Rifles, which released in 1974.

The song in question was Jhoom Barabar Jhoom Sharabi (the qawwali that inspired the title of the 2007 film*.)

The involvement of Aziz Nazan in it wasn’t restricted to composing it, but he rendered it as well.

Naza Sholapuri penned the track.

[*Note: I S Johar was the producer, director and writer of 5 Rifles. Producer-director Yash Chopra, the founder of Yash Raj Films (YRF), started his career as Johar’s assistant director. Jhoom Barabar Jhoom was a YRF production.]
