The cabaret number was rendered by Asha Bhosle, who was the undisputed queen of that genre, and bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1972. It was the only award bagged by the film.
She was joined behind the microphone by R D Burman, who composed the track as well.
The highlight of the track, which Majrooh Sultanpuri penned, was the line that went, “Monica, O My Darling”.
