There’s no two
ways about the fact that post-1969, there was a Kishore Kumar wave, and the output
of other singers (including Mohammed Rafi, who ruled the roost throughout the
1950s and 1960s) was dwindling.
But even in this period, there were a few songs that suited Rafi. One of them was Na Tu Zameen Ke Liye, the title track of Dastaan, which released in 1972.
Sahir Ludhianvi penned the Laxmikant-Pyarelal composition, which could be translated to, “Neither are you for the sky, nor for the earth. Now your identity is merely for a tale”.
