If the two tracks
from Haathi Mere Saathi (1971) on this blog were arranged in the
alphabetical order, Chal Chal Chal Mere Haathi – the title track of the
film – would be the first.
The song, which was (Kisho)rendered by Kumar, was composed by Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar and Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma.
It earned Anand Bakshi, the lyricist, a special award from the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
HMV (now called Saregama) won a silver disc for the sales of the film’s music. It was the first Indian gramophone record to do so.
