Anand Bakshi, the lyricist
who was a naam to reckon with, penned Main Shayar Badnaam.
It was the shortest of the three tracks from Namak Haraam on this blog – it was a couple of minutes and 38 seconds long*.
The R D Burman composition gave Kishore Kumar yet another opportunity to showcase his versatility, and it was among the latter’s finest sad songs.
(*Note: It was as long as the only song in the film in the film that Kumar didn’t render – Sooni Re Sajaria. It was sung by siblings Asha Bhosle and Usha Mangeshkar.)
