Indeed, it wAs(h)a ‘Dum’daar track

If the three songs on the soundtrack of Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971) on this blog were arranged in the alphabetical order and in the ascending order of their durations, Dum Maaro Dum would be the first – it was just a couple of minutes and 36 seconds long.

The song, which has acquired the status of a cult classic over the past 48 years, could be translated to, “Take another toke”, and was picturised on Zeenat Aman in her hippie avatar.

It was rendered by Asha Bhosle.

Anand Bakshi penned the R D Burman composition.
