Devotional singer Narendra wasn’t Chanchal

The Hindi film industry may be lucrative, but there are those who have briefly dabbled in it and have eventually found their calling elsewhere.

Narendra Chanchal was a singer who was fickle only by name. Primarily a devotional singer, he bagged the Best Male Playback Singer at the Filmfare Awards in 1974 for Beshak Mandir Masjid.

Interestingly (and ironically, considering it was from Bobby), it was the only trophy it bagged in the musical categories.

The song, which was penned by Rajkavi Inderjeet Singh Tulsi, was composed by Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar and Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma.
