Both the ragas blended Ma(ngeshka)rvellously

I have repeatedly stated that I’m no expert at identifying ragas in classical songs (or semi-classical ones, like Raina Beeti Jaaye, from Amar Prem).

But being an avid reader about all things melodious, I am aware of the fact that the aforementioned song, which was five minutes and 20 seconds long, was based on two ragas – Todi in the mukhda and Khamaj in the antara.

And boy, the fusion of the two was out of the world!

The song, which was penned by Anand Bakshi, was composed by R D Burman.

Lata Mangeshkar rendered it.
