The soundtrack of Aradhana
featured just one Lata Mangeshkar solo – Chanda Hai Tu Mera Suraj Hai Tu.
And boy, did she shine (pun intended!)
The Bengali version of the track, which was composed by S D Burman, was a literal translation – Chondro Je Tui. And Mangeshkar rendered it too.
While she didn’t have the opportunity to sing it in real life, it was ‘Saif’ to assume that Sharmila Tagore (on whom the track was picturised) eventually did – the Chhote Nawab was born in 1970, almost a year after the film released.
